Why?

Posted in Travel by wjbwilson on March 28, 2009

picture-5I do wonder about the mental state of the person who came up with this idea. Surely it would be better (and quite possibly safer) to take a long-haul flight to a far-flung destination and fly business class while you’re at it?

GUM Website Relaunch

Posted in Glasgow, GUM, Journalism, Websites by wjbwilson on March 25, 2009

picture-3I’m pleased to say that after much pfaffing around with WordPress, I have relaunched the website of Glasgow University Magazine. The website now includes videos, tags, articles and links  to all sorts of people, places and things. If you can’t get hold of a copy of the magazine, I’ve also added in a section where you can flick through previous editions. I’m trying to get as many editions of the magazine online as possible so stay tuned for more info..

All the small things

picture-2 I was in Borders today and came across an article in Product magazine about Slinkachu and Mike Hunter. These guys specialise in miniature photography and place miniature models in every day urban environments. The photography really messes with your sense of perpective and really puts the urban world in a whole new light.

I’ve always been a bit of an Apple fan and rely heavily on their products on a daily basis. However, last week my 3 year-old MacBook finally decided to crash and so I lost practically everything.

The man in the Apple Store told me the news like there had been a death in the family..

Of course, to me it really did feel that way. Especially when I thought of all the essays I had lost and all the man hours I wasted typing them up..

So £630 and a lot of stress later, I’m now the proud / somewhat fed up owner of another white MacBook.

To my horror then came the surprise a few days later of discovering a nice wee crack on the top-right of the screen of my iPhone.

I have booked yet another Apple Storr appointment for tomorrow.

Some people get all the luck..

Ever get the feeling that you’re being watched?

I’ve just received news that one of my friends from school has been picked as a top-six finalist in the Eurosong 2009 competition! Laura-Jayne Hunter will go head-to-head on Friday 20th February in a competition on RTE’s The Late Late Show to select Ireland’s Eurovision entry for Moscow 2009. Good luck Laura!
